History
The Department of economic theory and accounting was arranged in early 2017 after the merger of two departments — economic theory and the department of accounting and auditing. The teaching of political economy at the Forest Institute began in 1880. After the Revolution of 1917 followed by the civil war (ended in 1924), the Forestry Institute organized a unified Department of social sciences, which continued teaching of political economy. In 1929, after the Forest Institute was reorganized in Forest Technical Academy, three new departments have altogether appeared: (1) the Department of Leninism and Party history, (2) Dialectical and historical materialism and (3) Political economy. Associate professor Tulpanov Sergey Ivanovich has become the first Head of the Department of political economy. Later he became a well-known scientist, professor, pro-rector and Head of the Department of economy of modern capitalism at the Leningrad State University. Since 1948, Associate Professor Toporkov Alexander Mikhailovich headed the Department. Since 1968, Associate Professor (then Professor) Anatoly Sibiryov chaired the Department. Later he chaired the Department of Political Economy at the Leningrad Higher Party School (current Northwest Academy of Public Service). Since 1976, Professor Voronin Sergey Vasilyevich took up the departmental leadership. In his last years he has become a Professor of Saint Petersburg State University. Since 1998, Associate Professor Gryaznov Sergey Efimovich led the Department for 10 years. From 2008 to 2017 the department was headed by Professor Labudin Alexander Vasilyevich.
The Department of Accounting and Audit, as a structural unit, was established in the Forest Academy in 1982. In 1987, the first graduation of specialists in “Accounting, Analysis and Audit” took place. From 1987 to 2017, the Department of Accounting and Audit administered specialty “Accounting, Analysis and Audit”. In different years, the number of graduates in all forms of training (full-time, extra-mural and part-time) was ranging between 50 and 170 people. Since early 2017, the joint Department of Economic Theory and Accounting is training bachelors, masters and post-graduate students. Representatives of the department regularly take part in international and domestic scientific conferences, meetings and panels.
